Humanities at the IST

INTRODUCTION

Humanities Curriculum Website.

The Humanities at the IST are founded on a dual commitment to internationalism and the information and communications technologies that are revolutionising our world as we enter the new millennium.

Along with much else, internationalism informs our selection of curriculum content. The traditional Humanities curriculum is too often the unconscious handmaiden of state programmes that seek to inculcate a singular national identity. In contrast, at the IST we are designing curricula that emphasise a critical pluralism and reflective, analytical skills.

Our commitment to communications technology is unconditional. We believe that education is undergoing its most significant transformation since Johann Gutenberg undermined scribal authority in the 15th century. Humanities, with its insatiable thirst for information about people, past and place will perhaps be the subject with most to gain from the dot.com revolution.
