IST has two parents' associations. The first to be established was
"Friends". The role of this association is to raise funds and organise
social and cultural events for pupils and parents of the school.
"Friends" is a fully recognised French association under the law of 1901
and has an elected committee including a president, treasurer and
secretary.
"Friends" has been very active in its role, raising money for such items
as theatre lighting and the school's rowing club, as well as making
donations to local charities. It also helps to sponsor outings and
social events at the school for pupils and organises the School's
Christmas Fair. Events are advertised in the school and the "Friends"
newsletter.
All parents are invited to join the "Friends". Members are encouraged
take an active role in the many events organised.
The second parents association represents the parent body and is a
channel of communication between parents, staff and the school
authorities. Two parent delegates are elected by parents of each class
in the School, and these delegates meet regularly with the senior
management of the School to express parents' views and opinions
concerning the school's activities.
Both associations enjoy the full support of the school authorities and
are considered to be essential partners in the educational process.
