In French, the IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) can be sat in either of these 2 levels:

• IGCSE French as a First Language (this examination is therefore aimed at students whose mother tongue is French or at foreign students who are nearly as good in French as they are in their mother tongue)

• IGCSE French as a Foreign Language

Both examinations are to be prepared in 2 years and all the examinations are final ones (no coursework) and happen in the middle or at the end of Year 11.
